Let's get started !!

Because the tutorial for today is Retiform, I decided to use that background technique for my last card of the blog hop.  Retiform is described in the Mirriam-Webster Dictionary as "composed of crossing lines and interstices."  You can see that description in my card.

The MFP Stamp Shop set used on this card is Bring on the Sun.

Let's get started !!

Today's ink background was a new one for me - Alcohol Marker Marbling.  I found the instructions for Alcohol Marker Marbling in a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.  It is a relatively simple technique, the results of which create a very pretty background.

The MFP Stamp Shop sets used on this card were Dragonflies and Bring on the Sun.

CCEE1617 - Baseball Season

For her last CCEE Stampers challenge this month, Anne is celebrating baseball season.  We were to promote our favorite team, their colors, or just baseball in general.  I was born and raised in the Philadelphia area, so naturally we were Phillies fans.  My dad was such a fan that he actually named one of our dogs Richie Ashburn, after an outfielder for the Phillies.  Here is a logo for the Phillies:

I used their colors on my birthday card.

So . . . who are the other team members supporting this week?  Check out the CCEE Stampers blog to find out.

Let's get started !!

Continuing with my theme of ink backgrounds, today my background technique is Ombre.   The Mirriam-Webster dictionary describes Ombre as having colors or tones that shade into each other — used especially of fabrics in which the color is graduated from light to dark.  I achieved this effect by sponging three shades of blue on the area between two masks.

The MFP Stamp Shop sets I used for this card were Garden Art, Hello Butterflies, and Hydrangea.

Let's get started !!

In addition to the butterflies and bugs, my theme for this month's blog hop will be different ink backgrounds.  Today I'm showing the Bokeh background.  Bokeh is actually a photographic technique described as the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens.  Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light."  It is produced on a card by using sponge daubers of different sizes in different colors.

The MFP Stamp Shop sets I used on this card were Swallowtail and Oopsy Daisy.

CCEE1616 Scenic Cards

Anne challenged us to make scenic cards for the CCEE Stampers challenge this week.  There was one proviso -- include some red.  This was a fun card to make.

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see some more paper scenery.

CCEE1615 - One Layer Card with Watercolor Background

Anne was not kind to me this week.  She chose as her CCEE Stampers challenge a one-layer card with a watercolor background.  Please know that watercolor is the technique I feel least comfortable using.  I'm not really happy with my card; but, as they say, it is what it is.  At least I gave it another shot!

I'm sure the rest of the team had more success with this challenge.  Pop over to the CCEE Stampers blog to find out.

CCEE1614 - Masculine Card with Plaid

Anne Harmon is the new hostess for the CCEE Stampers challenges for April.  Her first challenge of the month is to make a masculine card using plaid (paper or stamp).  Good challenge for me -- I love plaids.

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see what the rest of the team did with this challenge.

Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" Challenge - Decorative Corner

I'm happy to serve as the hostess of the Scor-Pal April "More Than One Score" challenge today.  The theme I chose for this month is "April Showers," and my card is a relatively simple, but interesting, one -- a Decorative Corner card.  Here it is:

Start by cutting the card base 5 1/2" by 8 1/2".  Score along the long side at 2 1/8", 4 1/4", and 6 3/8".

Cut a strip of the same cardstock 1" x 5 1/2" and score at 1/2".  Adhere strips of Scor-Tape on each side.

Adhere one side to the end panel of the card base.

Cut four panels of coordinating cardstock 5 1/4" x 1 7/8" and three panels of patterned paper and one panel of neutral stamped/decorated cardstock 5" x 1 5/8".  Adhere the patterned paper and stamped panel to the cardstock panels, as shown.

Adhere these panels to the card base.

Glue card base together, forming a "standing block."

Cut two 1" circles, score in the center, and apply a small piece of Scor-Tape to one half of each circle.

Attach the two circles to the front corner of your card, as shown.  These will serve as "hinges."

Cut two nesting die-cuts and decorate as you desire.  I chose ovals for my card.

Attach this panel to the two small circle hinges and complete your card.  I added a cloud to the left-hand panel.  The card will fold flat for mailing in an A2 envelope.

I hope you will join in the More Than One Score challenge.
