Some Bunny Loves You

CottageCutz has a whole series of spring/Easter dies and stitched dies.  I chose a die from each set for my card today.   Be sure to check out their store because both releases are currently 25% off.  And who doesn't love a bargain.  The two dies I used for my card are Some Bunny Loves You and Stitched Sun, Clouds and Umbrella.  This card went together pretty easily.

I started by cutting my cardstock:

Purple - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
White - 4" x 5 1/4"

Using Ranger Distress inks (Bundled Sage and Tumbled Glass) I created my background, stamping the sprigs of grass with Memento Cottage Ivy.

I then cut my images . . .

. . . and built my little scene, coloring the bunny rabbits with some pale gray markers and popping up their cotton tails with small foam dots.

Here again is my completed card.

CCEE1808 - Polar Bear Day

As her last challenge for the month, Kelly informed the CCEE Stampers that next Tuesday (February 27th) is Polar Bear Day.  She asked us to create a card with a polar bear(s) or snow OR use white as our card's focal color.  I do have one polar bear stamp, so I used him on my card, along with a cute penguin.

Stop over at the CCEE Stampers blog to see what the rest of the team did with Kelly's challenge.

Eggs in a Basket/Wagon

Spring is making its way into Florida at last.  After a few cool/cold snaps, it's finally getting more like Florida weather around here.  CottageCutz has a new Spring release with some really cute flowery and Easter dies, which are on sale for a short while longer.   I've used several of them on my card for today.

I started my card by running a strip of white cardstock through my Xyron sticker maker and then cutting out the Spring Window w/ Vine.

By putting the adhesive on the back of the cardstock prior to cutting, I'll be able to construct my window more easily on the card.

I cut my card base as follows:

Purple - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Gray - 4" x 5 1/4"

I wanted a brick background for my bunny, so I used a favorite technique of inking up my embossing folder with gray ink prior to running the cardstock through my Cuttlebug.  The ink is pressed onto the paper, creating the "mortar" between the bricks.

I then cut two sets of shapes from the Spring Meadow die.  I did this because I knew I would need more than just the single set of die-cuts for my little scene.

After coloring both the Spring Window and Spring Meadow die-cut pieces with Copic markers, I constructed my scene on the brick background.

As you can see, I saved the inner white pieces of the window to place into the window frame.  When I attached the front layer of grass, I put narrow strips of foam tape behind the die-cut pieces.  This would allow me to insert the bunny behind the grass.  I wanted to wait until after the bunny was on the card before placing the butterflies.

I then cut the bunny out . . .

. . . and colored him and his wagon and eggs with markers.

After constructing Mr. Peter Rabbit and his wagon full of eggs, I placed some small foam pop dots behind his head as well as the wagon and some glue behind his feet.  That way his feet would slip in behind the grass, but his head, body, and wagon would be popped up.

I then added the butterflies in the open space next to the window, and my card was completed.

CCEE1807 - Tic Tac Toe

Kelly gave the CCEE Stampers a choice this week -- a Tic Tac Toe challenge.  We could actually choose what we wanted to do -- based on one line or column of the Tic Tac Toe form.

I chose the first column -- Add a sentiment, Shaker Card, Sequins.   It may still be pretty cold where you live, but it's rather nice in Florida, so I made a spring-like card.

Be sure to check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see what direction the rest of the team went.

Let's Color Eggs!

As kids, I'm sure we all loved to color Easter eggs.  I know I did.  Using one of the new Easter/spring dies from CottageCutz, I made a card reminiscent of that fun experience.  The CottageCutz die I used on my card is Egg Painting Bunny.

I wanted to make my egg-painting bunny the star of the show, so I made a relatively monochromatic background for him, using various purple papers.

To start my card, I die-cut the pieces from white cardstock.

Leaving the pieces on my sticky foam mat, I colored them using my favorite coloring medium -- my Copic markers -- using the packaging as a guide.   After I colored the pieces, I constructed the bunny and his paint can.

I then cut my cardstock and patterned paper:

Purple card base - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Pale violet patterned paper - 4" x 5 1/4"
Die cut purple cardstock with largest Nested Stitched Scallop Rectangle Die
Die cut pale violet cardstock with largest Nested Stitched Scallop Rectangle Die, trimmed at the stitch lines

Constructing my card was simple.

I added some small foam pop dots to the back of the bunny and the eggs and adhered them to my card.

I then stamped the sentiment, and I was finished.

Be sure to check out the CottageCutz store because these Easter/spring dies (as well as some cute stitched dies) are currently 25% off.

CCEE1806 - Valentine's Day

Kelly continues as hostess for the CCEE Stampers and this week she reminded us that Valentine's Day is next Wednesday.  So she asked us to create a card showing something that WE love.  I LOVE using dies when I'm creating.  And one of my favorite dies is this Tag Book Pop-Up die that Frances introduced me to last year.

I must warn you though -- it is very addicting.  Once you make one of these fun cards, you're hooked!  I think I made three of them in one week when I first got it!

Be sure to check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see what the rest of the team loves.

Easter Morning

I'm hoping that winter is over here in Florida.  I don't do well in the cold!  To keep my spirits up, I've been enjoying playing with the new release of Easter/Spring dies from CottageCutz.  Be sure to check them out over on the website while they're 25% off.  My card today uses the Spring Tree of Life die.

I wanted to try a bit of background sponging on my card to depict a sunrise, so I cut the image from white cardstock -- which would not take away from the background.

Using sponges, I made my background from Ranger Distress inks -- Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick, Milled Lavender, and Tumbled Glass.  I wanted the sun to be in the lower right-hand corner, so I slanted the colors.

I then laid my die-cut onto the sponged background and marked the edges.

I trimmed the panel slightly inside the pencil marks and glued down the diecut.

Then I cut my card base:

Purple - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Pale yellow patterned paper (a watercolor wash) - 4" x 5 1/4"

Lining up my yellow paper in my MISTI stamp positioner, I stamped my Easter greeting . . .

. . . and constructed my card, placing the die-cut piece at an angle.

I cut a frame from the same purple cardstock as the base and added strips of foam tape to the back.

I then mounted the frame on top of my die-cut -- and I was finished.

Scor-Pal "Anything Goes" Challenge

The theme of February's Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" challenge is Anything Goes.  I usually do fun fold cards for the Scor-Pal challenges, but I decided to do something a little different to start off this year of challenges.  I just scored the background of my birthday card with double scorelines to make a diamond-shaped backdrop for this cute mermaid.  My daughter loves anything beach- or nautical-related.  I'm sure she'll grab this card quickly.  BTW, the original sentiment was "Mermaid Kisses and Starfish Wishes."  I masked off the end of that sentiment and added "Birthday Wishes" with another stamp.

Be sure to check out the Scor-Pal blog to see what the rest of the team did for this challenge.  Plus you can join in the fun and maybe win a prize!
